Enrolling at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute could be a great way to turn up the heat for your culinary career. The school is now owned by Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, a prestigious and well-respected institute with campus locations scattered all over the world. Students are provided with hands-on training and classroom demonstrations, and are required to complete an externship following their studies. Programs may also have a focus on European cuisine and terminologies.

Program Selection

Culinary Arts Certificate

After completing their studies, graduates of this program could find work immediately as an entry-level or assistant chef before pursuing higher-level positions. Experienced professionals will teach students about proper hand-eye coordination, as well as food preparation and plate presentation. Students will also learn about culinary history, traditions and nutrition, as well as the proper use of ingredients and temperatures.

Pattisserie and Baking Certificate

Graduates of this program could whip up a successful career as a future pastry chef or professional baker. In just 30 weeks, students will learn about the creation of various desserts and breads while using state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. Graduates of this program will be taught how to use different types of ingredients and temperatures for creating breads, muffins, cookies, tarts, pies, and other dessert menu items. Students may also become familiar with various types of sauces, fillings, and icings.

Associate of Occupational Science

Want to learn how to cook and get a history lesson at the same time? In just one to two years, you can learn about culinary diversity and cooking methods that have been passed down for centuries. Students will be taught the history and identification of food, as well as nutrition and cost control. Management and inventory may also be included in the curriculum.

Associate of Arts Degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management

This type of program is ideal for future managers wanting a combination of both a management and culinary education. Learn how to fulfill various positions in the kitchen while studying international cuisine and wine. Students will be taught through demonstrations and hands-on training in the classroom, and can complete this degree in as little as two years.

Associate’s Degree in Pattisserie and Baking

With a more complex and well-rounded education, graduates of this program could become successful executive pastry chefs or bakers. Students learn how to use the different types of tools and equipment in the kitchen, and can complete this program in one to two years. Students will also learn about plate presentation, temperatures and ingredients. Besides learning how to prepare various types of desserts and breads, students may also learn how to create icings, fillings, and sauces.

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Culinary Management

This type of degree offers a diverse-range of topics, like food and beverage management, inventory, and human resources. Graduates of this program will learn how to exercise their leadership and problem-solving skills so they can become successful and competent restaurant managers. The curriculum includes purchasing, customer service, and may also include some basic mathematics and accounting.

Bachelor of Arts Degree in Restaurant and Hospitality Management

With an emphasis on ethics and customer service, this program includes environmental science, marketing, tourism, and even philosophy. Students will learn how to maintain cost control and gain profit using various management and interpersonal skills. This program can also be completed online so students can work around their own schedule.
