Enrollment at the Western Culinary Institute is a great way to work up an appetite for a culinary career. Now partnered with Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, this school not only has a student-run kitchen, but also a variety of different clubs focusing on catering, food writing, and much more. Graduates of each program must complete an externship following their studies.

Programs

Culinary Arts Diploma

In 30 to 36 weeks, students will learn everything they need to know about the basics of kitchen training. Coursework includes how to prepare food and ingredients while providing excellent food and customer service.

Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts

In approximately 15 months, graduates will learn the basics of food science, inventory, purchasing, and international cuisine. Professors teach students neat little tricks about using hand-eye coordination in the kitchen, as well as how to identify different types of food.

Patisserie and Baking Diploma

Students of this diploma program will learn about desserts, breads, international cuisines, and how to use different types of ingredients. Through this 36-week program, students will earn an Associate of Specialized Business Degree.

Associate’s Degree in Patisserie and Baking

Similar to that of the Patisserie and Baking diploma, this associate’s degree has more of a focus on European cuisine, and takes approximately 60 weeks to complete. Students will learn how to create, design, and prepare desserts with chocolate, sugar, bread, and other fillings and sauces.

Associate’s Degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management

Within 14 months, graduates of this program will learn everything they need to know about purchasing and inventory, as well as how to hire and supervise staff. Students will also learn about European-style cuisines, and how to pair wine with food.
