Projections are good through 2018 with a six percent growth rate. The entry-level job market is strong. Top chef jobs remain competitive. Options for the job market include: prep-chef, pastry chef, bakery, line cooks, sous chef, executive chef, and regional chef. Large cities, such as New York, command the highest wages in the field. An entry level prep-chef can expect to earn $25,000 per year. On the other end, an executive chef makes between $69,000 and $104,000. Regional chefs can average $150,000 a year.
